Should I stay, or should I go now?

or why hosting issues should not be like hormonal surges of any sort

I have been with Thinkhost for a long time. They are my second hosting company and in the beginning it truly was a love affair. Becuase I didn't know shinola. Then it was awesome because I learned a lot and they always helped me learn. I am at a stage now, however, that the transitions they have made as a company are good/bad and I have to reevaluate my situation in terms of real productivity, downtime, access issues etc. While it is true that storage space is a minimal consideration in comparison to bandwidth issues, it is also true that  some wrinkle and downtime is minimal to good customer service.

This is why it is frustrating to use three, nay FOUR different FTP clients to get access to some of my folders and have customer service say everything is FINE on their end. Slow load times, throttled bandwidth, inaccessible FTP folders, downed website and downed email. Once or twice during major overhauls I can see patiently smiling and saying "well, that is just how it is" but this kind of thing has actually happened at least once a month for the past year (if not more). Now, if the downed time and inaccessibility actually coincided with my menstrual cycle the world would probably end. But, truth to tell, I look forward to my monthly hormonal swing a hell of a lot better than I do the guessining game of whether or not I can actually do my work or not.

If my hosting company sent me chocolate everytime they were frelled, it might be different. A screenshot of my site working "on their end" instead of a probable explanation involving unstable servers under constant spam attack is another.
