Work is everywhere.

Posted: March 16th, 2009 @ 5:17pm

You may not find paid work, but work is everywhere. Everything needs tidying, patching, cleaning, sorting, putting away, and a general pat on the bottom. Unfortunately, most are not remunerated for their labour. And, interestingly enough, they do most of the work! I do wonder if the work doing of this sort necessitates or is necessitated by an accompanying redefinition of peace, love, and happiness. People write books on that kind of idea. And a lot of the time, the people writing the books have never really done lots and lots of work. Or have been really poor. Or even homeless. The worst thing about being homeless is the cold, and not so much the ability to get zen about having worked hard for nothing. Watching the world shift in the socio-economic way that means more women and children starved beaten and raped, more men suicidal and full of pesticides, more of us making more impoverished bunches of us. There are plenty of things that need remedying, tidying, and sorting. They were worth the expenditure of energy to do, regardless of the pay. And I can just savor the idea that this current shift will exact its natural catastrophic point across 7 billion of us.
