The final push that makes me get new gear.

- or why "making do" is sometimes what you shouldn't do

Posted: February 10th, 2009 @ 5:20am

Normally I skimp on gear, and newfangled betterers. I usually make do with what I have or what I can get for free (or nearly). I spend the majority of my spending spot money cash on fudge or movies or laundry soap. I buy new technical stuff with reluctance, but I have finally come to the end of the tether on my mic. My eyeball cam has an okay mic and I could just say "hey! presto!" and use it, but I also need a new webcam if I am going to run Blurry Monkey. So, new gear is in order. Now, if only I could justify having to by the professional master collection CS.....and "hey! presto!" I could make do with being a pretty fair hand coding notepad++ nut but I do dig fast turnaround PSD to html jobs, I do have audio/visual projects coming up in the distance, and I admit really liking the whole interface. Can anyone tell I am debating whether or not to spend $2400?

postscript sept09: and, i won the debate and did not spend the bazillions on new gear. nothing has exploded. yet.
